EXCUSES FOR CUSTOM TYPE
Occasionally someone will say something that totally inspires me. And occasionally
I'll use that as an excuse to make some custom typography. This is one that I live by.
NEVER GOT A CHANCE
While this brand never got its feet off the ground, it provoked me to create,
what I believe is, one of the most interesting logo's I've had the chance to make.
It's was built atop a grid influenced by isometric perspective. The shapes constrained
to a grid built on the form of a cube. All made for a fairly complex (and playful) system.
BOARDS OF CANADA
I've always had a thing for these musicians, so I did a bunch of research on how
they started and how they got their name. That research led me to a piece of work by
a Canadian environmentalist called "If You Love this Planet". Thus the name given to this
fictional album/compilation of some of the most recognizable tracks from BOC's discography.
During the beginnings of my career at CP+B I was asked to create some illustrations for
travel persona's. These would be used with a now deceased service that AMEX was launching.
While these were not used for the project ultimately, I still feel a sense of pride in them.
Among many other pieces done for Silent Circle (while at
Chapter SF), I had the chance to create and develop an icon
library for various usage. Here is a selection of those icons.
Earlier on in my career I had the opportunity to help start an art and
design periodical in Savannah, GA. For the first issue a group of makers
worked together on fictional super heroes. I was responsible for creating
a set of compelling type illustrations for their names.
